A non-GI article, very GI based.
Monday, January 29th, 2007I forget where I signed up, but once in a while, I get an e-magazine sent to my email from Men’s Health. A lot of the time, their articles are ignored, or tossed in my “will read later binâ€, not because I regret subscribing, but out of laziness or, just have my mind on other things besides work outs.
I’ve been to a few body building sites over the years, and there’s usually lots of good info. Anyway, today I read the article and clicked on one of the links, and I thought the article was not only an easy read, but informative.
It was also, reaffirming for me. For years I’ve been touting the concept of the Glycemic Index Plan as my own personal “magic bullet†to a healthier lifestyle. But let’s be honest here shall we: there is no magic bullet. Maybe that’s why I paused and lingered and debated with myself ever so briefly around the word: plan. Diet? or Plan?
diet
plan.
no… plan. it’s a road map. a guide. if you want to go from Point A to Point B and you’re not sure what roads to follow, or want to take the quickest, but also safest route, you get out your map, you surf to google, you pull out your GPS, but either way: you have a guide.
It was affirming to read this mini article and thought: hmm, that looks just like GI. Has the body building community been holding out on this “magic bullet†for years? or are people (like myself), simply started to pay attention.
While I’m *not* a body builder, I do read up on the odd article and try to glean the information that I can and apply to my lifestyle. This is one such article. It’s an easy read, it makes sense, and can be applied to body builders and couch potatoes alike.

I love how simple this guy’s shopping list is. I also like that he’s addressing how to change to healthier eating habits. One large nutritional change at a time. It’s almost like, all the writings, the ads, diet books the whole SELLING of GI/Diabetes food plans and diet centre “breakthroughs†(nutrisystem has switched to lower GI system for example), and Weight Watchers is now following those principles and turning them into “points†or “core†or some catchy method to help keep you on track. Every “diet†out there does that. “pretty it up, mark it up, sell it off.†(to quote a good buddy of mine)
But yeah, all that hoopla, reduced to an article that’s shorter than this blog entry.
